Kent Vensland is currently a graduate student at Purdue University who has a focus on instructional design and human performance technology. He received a bachelor of science degree in May of 2016 from Old Dominion University in Occupational and Technical Studies with a Training Specialist Emphasis and a Minor in Psychology. He served in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician Second Class Petty Officer for 6 years in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. After separation from the U.S. Navy he pursued a career with Milcom Systems Corporation which has been renamed and is currently VT-Milcom. Kent is a PMI certified project manager who held many positions within VT-Milcom including shipboard supervisor, platform manager, quality assurance inspector, trainer, and project coordinator. Kent’s priority is is college education, but he is an OSHA outreach trainer and currently has his own business where he provides OSHA 10 hour Maritime #7615 training and teaches a NAVSEA authorized connector class to his clients in the shipbuilding and ship repair industries.
Although Kent still works part time and attends college he finds time to contribute to the PMI community. In 2013 Kent was recognized for providing over 50 hours of volunteer service for PMI Hampton Roads to make the professional development day a success. Then in May of 2014, Kent Graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associate of Science Degree from Tidewater Community College after only 18 months.
In his spare time Kent enjoys watching detective and mystery themed television shows and walking his dog with his wife Jane. He also loves to watch his teen aged son participate in many various sporting events. Lastly, when Kent has time, you might find Kent riding his motorcycle near Pungo or kayak fishing in all of the natural waterways and lakes that Hampton Roads has to offer.
